Hi Guys.Today I am reviewing Bio-oil.I am pretty sure all of you have seen their ads on TV.So what is Bio-oil? What exactly does it do? Read along to find your answers!

About Bio-oil:

Bio-oil is skin care product meant for treatment of scars, stretch marks and uneven tone caused to hormonal imbalances, sun exposure etc.Bio-oil is oil formulation containing plant extracts and vitamins.

Ingredients:

Botanicals:Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Calendula Oil),Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (Lavender Oil),Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary Oil),Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil (Chamomile Oil).

Vitamins:Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) ,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E).

Oil base:Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum) ,Triisononanoin,Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate,Isopropyl Myristate,Glycine Soja Oil,Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil,BHT,Bisabolol.

Fragrance (Rose):Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Coumarin, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3 Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool.

Orange: CI 26100 (Red 17),Pink: CI 26100 (Red 17) and CI 60725 (Violet 2).

Pro’s:

1)It contains botanical extracts and is rich in vitamins which is good for skin.

2)It is hypo-allergenic which means it is suitable for sensitive skin.

3)It basically promotes collagen production and maintains the elasticity of scar tissue.

4)It really works on stretch-marks.

5)It also works on burnt scars,accident scars,surgery scars, wound scars etc.

6)It is good moisturiser for normal and dry skin.

7)It has also anti-aging properties which reduce wrinkles, moisturise and make skin soft and supple.

Con’s:

1) It is highly comedogenic and not suitable for oily and acne prone skin.

2)It does not work on acne-scars/blemishes.

Directions for Use:

Take a little quantity of oil.Apply and massage on the required areas for a few minutes once or twice a day.

Final Verdict:

I got to know about Bio-oil a year back when I was searching was scar-removal options.All the reviews were positive so I bought online from ebay.uk and it was quite pricey.Now since it is available in India,I thought I will do a review. I bought this for healing a burnt scar on my hand which happened while making puris 🙁 . I used it for 3-4 months and I must say I am pleasantly surprised by the results, it hardly visible now. I haven’t used it for stretch-marks because Palmer’s Cocoa Butter took take of that,you can check out the review here. Guys please note its a strict no-no for oily and acne prone skin,do not apply especially on face.Overall a decent product but remember healing of any scars takes months.If you have tried silicon gels and others with no improvement,then bio-oil is a worth a shot!
